What is UCP integration?
UCP integration is the process of connecting your online store to the Universal Commerce Protocol, the open standard that lets AI shopping agents like Gemini, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot and Perplexity discover your products, compare offers and complete purchases. Co-developed by Google and Shopify and backed by Walmart, Visa, Stripe and Etsy, UCP defines how agents read your catalog, build carts, check out and manage orders. Without UCP integration, your store is invisible to the fastest growing shopping channel on the internet.
Fewer than 5% of stores are AI-ready today. The stores that integrate UCP now will be the ones AI agents recommend first.
How UCP integration works
At the technical level, UCP integration means your store publishes a /.well-known/ucp manifest and exposes standardized endpoints for products, offers, checkout, identity linking and order management over REST and JSON-RPC, as defined in the official UCP specification from Google. AI agents read the manifest, validate your capabilities and transact with your store directly. No screen scraping, no guesswork.
The protocol versions rapidly. Shopify implements UCP natively, but every other platform needs an integration layer that tracks the spec as it evolves. That is exactly what UCPhub does.
Your three UCP integration options
1. Custom build
Building UCP integration in-house typically costs $20,000+ and takes months. The hidden cost comes after launch: UCP releases new versions frequently, and every update means engineering time just to stay compliant. This path only makes sense for large retailers with dedicated platform teams.
2. Feed converters
Some tools convert your Google Shopping feed to UCP format. That covers discovery but not the full protocol: no agent checkout, no cart building, no order management. Your products may appear in AI results, but agents cannot buy from you.
3. A managed UCP integration platform
UCPhub runs one UCP Core, kept to spec as the protocol evolves, plus a pluggable connector for your commerce platform. Install the connector, authorize your store, and your full catalog becomes UCP-addressable, including checkout. Protocol updates are handled for you. Setup takes minutes, not months.
UCP integration for WooCommerce
WooCommerce has no native UCP path, which makes an integration layer essential. The UCPhub connector is live as a free WordPress plugin: install it, connect your store, and AI agents can discover and buy your products through your existing checkout and payment gateways. UCP creates standard WooCommerce orders, so nothing changes in your fulfillment workflow. Connectors for Magento, BigCommerce and headless setups are in active development.

UCP integration FAQ
How long does UCP integration take with UCPhub?
About five minutes: install the connector, authorize your store, and your catalog starts speaking UCP the same day.
Do I need to change my checkout or payment gateway?
No. Agent orders flow through your existing order and payment logic. Any gateway that works with your store works with UCP.
What does it cost?
Every install includes up to 10 AI-agent orders a month, free forever, no credit card. You only move to a paid plan when agentic commerce drives real revenue. See pricing.
Is UCP the same as ACP?
No. UCP is the open standard co-developed by Google and Shopify. ACP is a proprietary standard from OpenAI and Stripe that powers ChatGPT Instant Checkout. UCPhub keeps your store aligned with the open standard, so you are not locked into a single AI surface.
